Litter in our Environment

Hello Southmoore,
Many of you have been making comments to the posts on my blog; thank you for joining me. A couple of comments suggested that recycling is an important process to keeping our environment healthy. Today I would appreciate you taking a look at the work of one man who began his journey to a better local environment by removing litter. Chad Pregracke undertook an ominous task. While in high school he launched a one person campaign to clean up the Mississippi river and in the process motivated thousands of community members to become better stewards of the environment. Visit the links below to find out more about Chad and his work.

How did Chad accomplish his goal of cleaning up the Mississippi? What characteristics does he possess that help him to be successful?
I hope you enjoyed learning more about Chad, I am really amazed and inspired by his story. How can we impact problems like this in our area?

People use too much trash and do not pick it up. By recycling, we not only lose trash, but we reuse it for another purpose. My family has reused the Wal-Mart sacks and water bottles for a very long time. We will soon have a pile of recycled newspaper. This shows that people in every day life can help the environment that we all live in.

I think that Chad is a very driven person by the looks of all that he has accomplished. I think if everyone did a little bit in each household that a little would go a long way. If everyone used their blue recycle bins given out by the city that would even make a huge difference. Cans and bottles are what we do in my house, recycling those makes me feel like we're making a difference even if it is small.
My family reuses wal-mart bags to and walgreens bags, px bages, 7/11 bags, and them dollar store bags. I think it is really great what you guys as well as many other people are doing for our earth. It'll all all be worth it in the future.
we can all recycle i mean its not that hard
I think we should start a club at Southmoore to help out and raise awareness. Not only can we help With the earth, but we can help out our local communtiy and do other charities.
Chad's is a very inspiring story. I know my family tries to do a little by reusing sacks too and getting tap water instead of bottled water. By the way, Southmoore is already recycling paper through NHS, although I agree that SM should start a club.
people like to use trash andthen they think that it is cool to just throw it on the ground as if it doesn't matter

It's not hard to recycle. I mean my family reuse stuff like plastic bags. I also think the club would be a good idea.
Hi Miss Shannon,
Umm I Think Thas Chad
Is Doing Something Very Good For Our Enviroment. I Think We Should All Try To Do Something To Try To Keep Our Enviroment Clean. There Are Alot Of Things People Can Do To Help But I Think That Most People Are Just To Lazy To Do It.
HI MISS SHANNON,
I THINK THAT CHAD IS DOING A GOOD THING. I THINK THAT PEOPLE SHOULD TRY TO RECYCLE INSTED OF LIVING THEIR TRASH EVRY WEAR
Your suggestions for a club to encourage everyone at school to be more aware of recycling and liter are great ideas. Where would you begin? How many people do you think we could affect?
