Arrival in New Orleans
I arrived in New Orleans on Friday morning after a very bumpy plane ride from Portland to Houston, TX and then to New Orleans. Another teacher and I took a street car to a very famous area of New Orleans called the French Quarter. We listened to music and ate red beans and rice. Lots of people were eating crawfish that were boiled in big barrels. Have any of you eaten a crawfish? The music was wonderful. We listened to zydeco and jazz. One band we heard was all kids. They were amazing. This picture is the leader of a zydeco band. Do you know what instrument he is playing?
Tonight we are at the Pearl River and sleeping in the bunkhouse. There are lots of mosquitoes!! In the mornng we will practice catching caterpillars and learn to identify plants. Maybe I will see an alligator!
