Satellite View of Chesapeake Bay

This satellite image shows the extensive shoreline of Chesapeake Bay where Edgewater, MD is located. Here are a few questions for you to think about:
1.What type of wetland would be found near the bay?
2. How will the forest of this area be different from the LaVille Woods?
3. We will be studying one hectare plots of forest. How large is a hectare?
4. What kind of data do you think we could gather to monitor a forest?
5.How do you think a warming climate might change this data in the future?

1. Estuary
2. The woods there will have different kinds of trees due to differences in rainfall and soil.
3. A hectare equals 2.47+ acres
4. Test the soil for nutrients, measure the rainfall, measure the diameter and height of the trees, the mass of leaf litter.
5. If it gets warmer the trees might grow faster.
