Traveling to San Salvador, Bahamas will fulfill my dream of volunteering to help our planet. My experiences will give me rich, important material to bring back and include in my curriculum for my students. I will be helping John Rollino conduct research on coral reef ecology and coral diseases, most specifically, coral bleaching. I have the opportunity to actually participate in a study that will add to the knowledge of how Earth's climate changes are impacting the inhabitants of our oceans!

The Eve of My Big Adventure

'Tis the night before San Salvador, and all through the Willmarth house....Mr. and Mrs. Willmarth & Junta (the pooch) are bustling about!

I am very excited to be leaving tomorrow for this amazing adventure! I want to thank everyone for all of your well wishes for safety and enjoyment for this trip. It will be a long haul tomorrow to get to San Salvador, but it is all in the name of science and helping the earth; no complaints from me!

I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Hello Nikky,
I hope to have a wonderful time, though before I can, I have to get there! The flights have been smooth so far, but I will be in the airport in Miami for 7 hours before heading off to the Bahamas. In response to your question, I will be snorkeling with Earthwatch to help the coral.
Thank you for commenting to the blog page!
