Arrived at Churchill

I got in to Churchill tonight on the same flight with the 10 other teachers I will be working with over the next 10 days. We flew from Winnipeg to Churchill (find them on a map!) in Manitoba, and we crossed over hundreds of rivers and lakes on the flight. What do you think caused all of these lakes to form up here? The last one hundred and fifty miles before we got to Churchill we didn't see any roads or towns and one of the researchers here said that if you tried to go from here to Alaska, you would only cross one road on your way through all of Canada. This makes the environment up here pristine (clean and undisturbed by people) so it is perfect for studying how the environment is responding to climate change. Also, we are on the edge of the arctic and boreal forest ecosystems, so we can see how different environments are effected by the changing climate. Over the next few days, I will be sharing with you more about how we are going to do research to measure these changes and the effects of climate change on these ecosystems.

This is Lamont Ray from Mendez class. I was just reading what you wrote. How cold is it in Manitoba? And I was wondering if there are any rocks there? If yes can you bring me some?
