T-Minus 10 Days and Counting

T-minus ten days and counting until arrival at Churchill, MB.

As I create this entry, the current temperature in Nashville, TN is 29 degrees Celsius, and 13 degrees Celsius in Churchill. (Students you convert) It could be worse.

The pace is beginning to pick up as I try to get the necessary warm / wet weather gear all packed up and leave nothing behind.

Some of our instruction time the first week of school has focused on Churchill, MB, the Earthwatch programs and some of the research that is being conducted up at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre (CNSC).

The students are excited about the ability for us to communicate through video conferencing, blogging and the use of a satellite phone. At this point, the biggest wish from the students is that they hope I see a polar bear and get some "up close and good pictures". I told them, hopefully not to close.
