Day 5 Boring Trees
Any Questions? After removing the core from a tree, we bring it back to the lab where it will be placed in a low temperature oven to dry. It will then be sanded and have the rings counted. Why would the age of a tree be important if a researcher wanted to know if the forest was changing?

Kyle, you asked what is the exact purpose of why I am 1500 miles away from my home in a place called Churchill, Manitoba? I am working with a research team studying how The Arctic Tundra is being affected by the changing climate. The idea is to read the blog and post questions about what I have written. So please, read The Blog and ask questions…..then convince the person sitting next to you do the same. There have been five postings and a handful of questions concerning the topic. It is a ten week marking period. Two weeks is one fifth of a ten week marking period……Hint Hint Hint.

Mr. Wojo’s class from Milwaukee. He is my roommate and I can see why you want him back in Cudahy. He is a great guy and fun to work with. I am trying to convince him to move to Buffalo even though his snoring has kept me up most nights.

Miss Hyla, I will have some permafrost information and a vegetation list to you and your students by Monday. We are extremely busy, but will have a day off on Saturday…..not Sunday. There are about thirty abundant species, but less than ten that are indicator species. The indicator species are the ones of interest.

Hi I am Danielle from Mr. Wojo's class, he asked us to comment on your blog. Mr. Wojo really snores? He should try SleepRite (TM) Did you guys really see the aurora borealis? All the teachers on the trip have the same picture up of it and I wasn't going to ask Mr. Wojo because he can't see them.

Wait what? you want him to move to Buffalo with you? No way jose. Mr.Wojo is awesome and funny. Ohh yeah can you tell my Wojo that his turtle cage is literally (sorry i dont know how to spell it) a dark green. and you cant even see the turtle when it is under water. and also Mr.Summerville fed it a worm and it ate it all in one bite! but if Mr.Wojo doesn't come back in the ten days he sais that he was going to be gone, we are all going to go and find him. And if we dont find him then we are sending the F.B.I out to look for him. :)

Hi I'm Kurt F. from Mr.Wojo's class. I have questions that Mr.Wojo wont get to because of the dozens of other qustions he gets. Did Labman keep the rocket? How long does it take to core a tree? And my last question is how cold is the Hudson Bay lately?

what indicator species are of particular interest, and what are they in particular? Are you seeing much evidence and indicators of global warming? Are you near a town at all? i see all are bundled up......what kind of temps are you dealing with? Fascinating work you are you doing.....keep it up!
