TRAPS!
Holy Cow! I thought that we had the smartest students ever, but those comments are really proving it to me!!! I can't wait to tell all the other scientists your great ideas tomorrow! I can't believe that I never thought about carnivores having hair or fur in their feces, and then vegetarians having nuts and seeds in their feces; I think you should be here helping us!
Tomorrow when I go on my feces hunt in the afternoon I am going to look for all those things that you told me about and take LOTS of pictures for you to look at and maybe you could tell me what you see. Oh, and yes, Jorgelssy there is some sniffing involved while looking at feces. I will tell you all about it tomorrow :)
OK. Today was a very important day for us here in Nova Scotia. We set up our first traps and first thing tomorrow morning we are going to go see what we found. We are looking for mice and voles. I know you have heard of mice, but who has heard of a vole? What do you think it is? Please answer that question and make sure that you answer the questions in my video (Why does the door close when I push the little latch? Why do we put straw, seeds, and an apple piece in the nesting box?).
Keep your fingers crossed that I have 20 full traps tomorrow morning! I can't wait to hear from you :)

I think a vole is a mouse like animal. I think that the door closes when you press on the latch so that the vole or the mouse can't get out.the reason I think that you put seeds,straw,and apples so that the vole or mouse would come to get the food. and when it goes in it steps on the latch. That is how the door closes. And to answer your last question,I think you looked like the second picture because Ms.Scott said that you didn't like frogs because,they could jump every which way.

I think a vole is a tip of a mouse like rodent with rounded muzzle, that is found in Eurasia and North America.
For the other question it close because that is when you all ready got what you wanted to get.
Will for your last question I think you put all of that because maybe the mammal will smell it and then you will have it in the tramp.
Oh I almost forgot for the frog one it's the second because I know you are scared to frogs.

I think that a vole means a type of mouse. Hey if I'm rite I want to tell you that why do they call them like that? The next question you told us that how,went you push the latch the door close? Well I think that went the mouse gets in,the mouse would push the latch the door will close the mouse? The next question is that you said 'why do you put straw seeds and apples in the traps? Well I think that went you put those thinks the mouse will smell the things and would like to eat them and he or she will go inside so he or she could eat the things and would like to stay there to eat the straw,seeds and apples!I have a question why do you need a mouse for? #1 I think a vole is a various small rodents that look like fat mice or rats with short tails and are sometimes harmful to crops.

when you push the latch the latch close and it has a string and when you push the latch the latch pull the string and thats how the door open.
#3 I think you put the seeds,apple,in the traps for the vole can get inside and he eats the seed,apple and then you push the latch and the door close and thats how you trap the vole.

Hey Ms. Livingston I think I can answer both your questions. I hope that these smart Diamondbacks can too. I won't give it away though. Maybe they can look up the information about mouse traps in the Library. We'll just have to wait and see if they come up with the answers. Can't wait to here what you did today. So when the mouse goes in it, it closes. When the vole goes in the trap, it smells the straw, apples, and seeds and when he goes in, the door shuts. It is a type of a meadow mice.

We think the door closes when you push the lever because the door has a thing that holds the door open so when mice run in the trap it shuts behind them. We think you put the seeds,apple pieces,and straw in the trap because when the mouse goes in the trap it will be nice and healthy for you to study it.

Hi Ms. ROCKINGSTON!!! We think that we know the anwser to your question. The reason why the door closes when you touch the latch is because the rope moves to shut the door. We think the reason you put seeds and apples in the trap is because when the herbivore goes for the seeds and apples so you can trap the animal .
We think that the apple and the seeds are for the animals to eat and the straw is for the animal to sleep in. When the animal steps on the lever the trap door closes.
