Mammal Characteristics

Dear 4th graders,

As you know I am going to be going to Nova Scotia very soon. While I am there I will be posting blogs that I want you to respond to. Since this is new to you we will be practicing in class.

In science, we have been talking about animal characteristics. We have been especially looking at mammals because that is the type of animals I will be studying while I am in Nova Scotia. I would like to know some things you have learned about mammals.

Here are my questions:
1. Do mammals lay eggs?
2. What are two things that all mammals have in common?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Love,
Ms. Livingston

Hi Ms. Livingston! Yes, mammals lay eggs. They are warm-blooded, too. They have fur. Hope this keeps you going!

Hi 4th graders! I apologize for not responding to your questions very quickly...I have been very busy!

To answer your questions...I am not a teacher and I am not a scientist. I have met you before.

Please help me with my two-part question! I keep hearing that global warming is dangerous. Why is global warming so dangerous and what can I do to help prevent global warming?

Thanks! You ROCK!

Dear anonymous are you MS. Livingston brother? Global warming is caused by pollution and by Gas and CO2 helps the trees to breathe and they breathe out oxygen. love Jose,A DAYANA MIRIAM, and Jacqueline

Dear anonymous,

Global warming is dangerous because the factories has smoke and CO2 in when the smoke gose to the emespher the emespher gets into the earth and the earth gets hotter.
To stop global warming we can recycle and stop cutting down trees.
Are you Ms.Livinston borther
yes or no?

Dear anonymous,
We are alright with cutting trees but when you do plant another one.and it is not alright for pollution. To stop global warming we could go walking and not use cars too much and instead of using cars you could even use bikes or use the city bus.
anonymous are you Ms. LIvingston's brother? the one that is the firefighter, John?

Dear Anonymous,

Are you Ms. Livingston's brother?

We could recycle, pick up litter, amd plant trees.

Because we could get floods. A lot of ice is melting. Love,Ana M , Maria, and Jose R

Wow! You are all very smart! Thank you for your excellent responses to my question about how we can help prevent global warming! These are very helpful things to do to prevent more damage to the environment. I am very impressed with how much you know about reducing CO2 released into the atmosphere - walking and riding bikes instead of taking a car, recycling, planting trees, picking up litter, taking buses and other public transportation, etc. Great job!

You have almost solved the mystery of my identity - yes, I am Ms. Livingston's brother...but which brother am I? Here is a hint: I am the manager of a small hospital and a social worker. Social workers talk to people about things they are thinking and feeling and try to help them with those thoughts and feelings! Which brother am I - John, Mark or Erik? I will give you another hint: I talked to you about what you wanted to be when you get older AND how deep the snow gets in upper Michigan (remember the doors on the second floor!).

Now, will you please answer my question? I live in Michigan, which is cold most of the year. You live in Arizona, where it is hot most of the year. How does global warming affect mammals living in different climates? How about mammals in a hot climate? How about mammals in a cold climate? Is it the same or different?

Good luck smarties! I am very impressed with your intelligence! I am also very impressed with how well you work together as a team! Keep up the great work!

Dear Ms. Livingston,
I think that just like humans, mammals eat and then they poop out what they ate. Also what is the name of the ocean that you work by? And how cold is it there?

Love,
Zori

what a vole means

I thing that a vole means a small typically, burrowing mouselike
.I thing that it close because it traps the mouse.
And it like if you put your hand it close like if it was a mouse.
I thing that they put seeds straw
apple pieces in the trap because it makes it like the grass and the mouse could fall for it and so you could get them with the vole.
and i also that in picture think you are the 2 one the rest of them look like any of the rest them

p.s i miss you well stay warm :D

I think that vole it a wolf but I think it other way to said wolf. Wend you push the latch it will close and the other part of the trap it close and the door will close and the mouse will get in the trap. You put straw, seeds, and apple for the mouse to smell it and they will push the latch and it will close and the mouse will get the trap.
