I'm here!!!

Hey Smarties,

I have made it safely to Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada! Do you remember where that is? Maybe you should find it on the map or globe. So far I am doing really well. I took a plane from Phoenix all the way to Chicago. Once I was there I had to wait about 3 hours until my next plane was ready to take me to Nova Scotia (that is called a layover). Here is a picture of me getting off the plane in Nova Scotia; can you tell that I am very excited?

I am glad that you gave me such good advice on what to pack because it is cold here. When I got off the plane it was 39 degrees, BRRR!

Well, I need to get to sleep because I have a very busy day tomorrow. It will be my first day as a real researcher. What do you think I will do first?

I can't wait to hear back from you; I miss you already!

Love,
Ms. Livingston

P.S. Did you see that anonymous wrote again and so did Ms. Waling's class :)

Ms. Livingston,
I am so happy to know you arrived safely. I was thinking about what you might do first. I think you will meet all the other researchers and get your assignments. I can't wait to hear what your 1st assignment will be. Maybe you will be walking in the woods looking for mammals or signs of them. Be safe and stay warm!

Ms. Livingston,
We think that the first thing that you will do is go to a meeting and get materials. You will probably get a camera to take pictures of mammals. You might also get a net and a paper with questions about animals.
Some of us want to know if they have Starbucks there. (If they do, then that will be the first thing that you do.)
Be careful with the lynx, we don't want you to get bitten.
Can you go on to Skype tomorrow at 8:15 am Phoenix time, which will be 12:15 pm in Halifax, so we can video chat with you. Thanks.

I think first you will probably go rock climbing and make friends with some animals, maybe a goat. Good luck, have fun and BE SAFE!

Dear Ms. Livingston,

First, you will probably meet the scientists that you're working with. You can recognize them because they will be wearing white jackets, white pants, special shoes, gloves, and glasses. We think those scientists will be very smart people!

Then, we think you will probably trap some mammals so you can get close to them and observe them. We hope you don't harm the animals, though, because that would be mean. Maybe you could use binoculars to observe the mammals without having to trap them.

We'll be reading to learn all about your adventures. Have fun, be safe, and stay warm!!

Love,

Hey there everyone,

Thanks for all your comments!

Ms. Waling's class. You were half right...one of the first things I did this morning was drink coffee, but it was coffee from the kitchen where I am staying (there is no Starbucks).

Ms. Scott's class. You were half right as well...the first thing I did was I met the other scientists. The only thing was, they actually look like normal people (no white coats OR goggles). I will try to post a picture of my team soon!

I just posted a video that has a very important question...can anyone help me?

Thanks!
Ms. Livingston

Hello Ms. Livingston,
We just read your first blog and we think that on your first day you will meet the people you will work with and maybe go see some of the places you will work at.

We hope that you stay warm.

Hello Ms. Ballard's class,

You are right! Today, on my first day, I did go to one of the places that I will be going to again to study the mammals.

I can't wait until tomorrow!

Love,
Ms. Livingston

P.S. Ms. Scott's class. We only use traps that do not hurt the animals. Tomorrow will be my first day using traps so I will tell you more about it then.
