I think if the voles are smart then they will keep coming back to the traps because they know they will get food and such. That could be the case if you keep catching the same one. We miss you!!!!

Mrs. Krekeler, I think it is so cool how you cought all those animals. I am inspired by seeing what you do and whish i could do the same thing one day. I think that it was so cute how you cought all the animals and that they were so cute. I can't wait till you get back so we can here more about you trip. I hope you are having fun. I have a question, what does it feel like doing what you are doing? Trapping the animals then letting them go? I hope it doesn't rain to much while you are there. See you soon.

That is so cool how you release the vole at the same spot you captured it. I think it would be cool if we could see a video of you taking a vole out of the trap and putting it into the plastic bag.

Are the traps dangerous for the little mammals? I know some traps are made to capture animals and make sure they don't escape which sometimes even hurts them. The voles look a lot like mice on the videos. I think that if they are smart, they will continue to come back to the trap so they can get food and a warm place to sleep.

I wanted to let you know that the traps do not harm the animals.
From the video I made, you can see we put hay, food, and apple in the traps. The hay is for bedding and insulation. This keeps the animal warm until we check the trap. The food is for the animals. Their metabolism rate is high enough that they will need the food. The apple is a source of water for them.
The animals that go in the traps are only big enough for the traps; big animals can't fit in. The trap is just a door that closes. It is light.
There is plenty of room between the door trigger (part they step on to close the door) and the door. The actual trap is about three times bigger than the animal. The tunnel where the trap door part is located is very long.
Don't worry--I would never hurt an animal or participate in something that would hurt them.
There are a few animals that are scared too much and those are shrews. I forgot to mention that there are shrews here. They are VERY small mammals. Our traps have an escape hole that is big enough for only shrews. If the shrew were caught it would either be too frightened or it would starve to death (they have to eat every 2-3 hours).
