The pictures and stories are so exciting, Mrs. Krekeler! To answer your questions, I could view the video fine after some buffering, but on my teacher computer I couldn't see some of the photos. The last one I could view was a cute little guy being held by someone in a red striped shirt. :-)The five photos underneath that one, four from April 16 and one from April 15, do not show up. Maybe I will be able to see them on my home computer?
You are doing such important work and I am proud to be your colleague. Anyone who reads your blogs is learning so much about research science; I know I am!
Have fun, and try to stay warm, if not dry.

Hey Mrs. Krekeler!,
It's good to hear from you. How many times has the vole been captured? The trap doesn't look like what I thought it was going to look like. do you put food in the trap to make the animal go into it? How many animals do you need to capture? Can wait to see you again!

Hi Mrs.Krekeler.
So you caught another vole i see. Thats really cool. How does the vole get trapped in the trap.does the trap have some sort of mechanism that snaps shut when the vole touches something? Anyway good to know theat you have caught something (again).

How did you learn where to put the traps? That vole can really move! I wonder if he/she has a family. How big does a vole family usually consist of? The video works. : )

I wanted to give you a little more details about the traps. There is now a video of me setting out a trap (see the videos page).

Because the small mammals aren't as fast as their predators they need to rely on something else than speed. What they do is dart against something--a tree branch, anything that allows them to run against something.
We set the traps against things that we thought would be their path. We used our knowledge of how they traveled and then we guessed where they were and placed traps.

I made a video explaining how the traps work. Now that it is loaded on google videos, you can watch it.

That vole brave because if i was in the vole's shoes I would always want to leave. Hope you have a great time in testing the animals.

i think that is so cool how you let them go in the same place where you captured them. If you capture a vole (or any other mammal)you cut their fur the then let them go but if you recatch the sam evole do you recut their fur so you can see how many times you catch that one vole?

Hi Mrs. Krekeler!
The vole looked just like a mouse! releasing the vole seemed really easy, but how does the trap work? Does it just close shut when the vole "steps" into it? Well, all of your work seems very intresting, can't wait 'till your back!
